Georgian dresser bases were predominantly constructed from solid native hardwoods, most commonly oak, fruitwood, or elm. Secondary timbers such as pine or poplar were often used for internal drawer linings, while hardware typically featured cast brass swan-neck handles and escutcheons.

Authentic 18th-century pieces usually exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, hand-dovetailed drawer construction, and natural timber shrinkage over time. Original brassware will show hand-turned threads or irregular cast outlines, and the underside of the frame often reveals pegged tenon joints.

A Georgian dresser base functions well as an entryway console or a dining room buffet. Styling typically incorporates contemporary artwork or a large mirror mounted above the upstand, balanced with ceramics, lamps, or glassware arranged across the top surface.
