Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Avanos rugs originate from the Cappadocia region in Central Anatolia, Turkey. They are characterised by soft wool pile, geometric central medallions, floral spandrels, and rich palette combinations often utilising madder red, indigo blue, and soft cream tones.

Traditional Turkish rugs are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for the pile, woven onto a wool or cotton warp and weft foundation. Dyes were historically derived from natural plant and mineral sources, such as madder root for reds and indigo leaves for blues.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-knotted construction visible on the reverse, subtle colour variations known as abrash caused by hand-dyed wool batches, and natural wear consistent with age. Symmetrical Ghiordes knots are typical of traditional Turkish weaving traditions.

A rich red Anatolian rug grounds a room by introducing warmth and structural pattern under neutral furniture. It pairs effectively with natural timber floors, mid-century furnishings, or classic leather seating in contemporary living spaces.

Regular gentle vacuuming without a rotating motorised brush removes surface dust without damaging wool fibres. Promptly spot-clean spills with cold water and mild detergent, rotate the rug annually to ensure even wear, and use professional rug cleaning services when required.
