Mersham Manor Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
A most unusual Victorian walnut davenport, of excellent quality.
c1860.
The davenport has two different desk types. The sloping green leather top, has a hinged stationary compartment to the back. This section can be used at standing height.
The sloping lid then lifts to reveal a large storage well.

To the base front are double doors which open to reveal a large cabinet, which can also be opened at the back.
The design of this davenport is one I have never encountered before, so I believe it to be extremely rare, and probably bespoke made at the time.

The walnut has wonderful rich figuring and a good colour and patina.
Standing on the original castors.
In excellent antique condition, with general expected signs of age and use. Fittings to the cabinet may have been removed, as there are marks to where possibly compartments were.

Very solid sturdy and strong.
The dimensions are.
Height at highest point-103cm. Height to the top of the back of the desk-100cm. Height to the underside of the kneehole area-70cm.
Width-61cm.
Depth-61cm.
