An excellent quality William IV rosewood davenport.
c1835.
The hinged lid opens to reveal an attractive birds-eye maple stationary storage well, with two small drawers to the back, over a dummy drawer.
Supported by barley-twist columns.
To the right side of the davenport are four mahogany lined drawers with original turned wooden handles. All brass locks and escutcheons are present. With a slide-out and swivel ink-well and pen drawer.
To the opposing side are four dummy drawers.
Standing on the original castors.
Wonderful figuring to the rosewood. Good even colour throughout.
In very good condition, some historical repairs to the veneers around the front corners, shown in the pictures, also around the drawer escutcheons, barely visible, professional repairs. No key.
Very solid sturdy and strong.
