Description

Antique Jersey flagon of 1 Pot capacity, heart shaped lid with twin acorn thumb piece.

There is a clear maker’s mark to the underside of the lid for John de St. Croix. There is a clear ‘Crowned GR’ verification to the rim.

The flagon is in excellent condition with a polished silver grey finish. There are a few historic knocks and bumps.

Jersey pewter measures originated in the Channel Islands during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries as standardized liquid containers for trade. Crafted primarily in local pot capacities, these vessels were used for measuring spirits, wine, and cider in commercial tavern settings.
