Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Hamadan rugs originate from the city of Hamadan and its surrounding villages in northwestern Iran, one of the oldest weaving regions in the country. Village weavers created distinctive, durable rugs for daily household use, incorporating geometric floral motifs and regional medallion patterns that reflect centuries-old tribal design traditions.

Hamadan runners are traditionally hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile woven onto a durable cotton or wool warp foundation. They typically employ a single-warp weave construction, creating a sturdy texture, and feature wool yarns treated with natural plant and mineral dyes.

Authentic pieces can be identified by their flexible handle, slight natural variations in dye colours known as abrash, and minor irregularities in knot spacing typical of village handcrafting. Examining the underside reveals clearly visible knot patterns that match the upper design rather than a uniform machine-woven backing.

A long runner rug is ideally positioned in narrow architectural spaces such as hallways, entry corridors, or alongside kitchen islands to add texture and depth. The deep blue and red tones can anchor neutral contemporary schemes or complement traditional timber flooring and period joinery.

Regular care involves vacuuming using suction only without a rotating beater bar to protect the wool fibres. Using a high-quality underlay pad prevents slippage and reduces wear, while professional specialist cleaning is recommended to maintain the natural dyes and structural integrity.
