This particularly nice example of a two drawer golden oak writing table, dating to 1900 -1920, still retains an excellent colour, its original handles and working locks, (key supplied).
The cabinet maker, unusual for this period, selected an elegant and desirable mid 19th century design of leg when making this writing table - the legs raise the working surface to the correct working height.
The drawer fronts are constructed from solid oak, the drawer linings and bottoms are mahogany.
The leather writing surface is an old replacement, recycled from a larger piece which we have had redecorated with a simple gilt tooling to the edges - because the table is in a good original condition and has not been overly restored I felt a leather showing some signs of age was preferable.
