LVS Decorative Arts has dated this Bronze Horse Sculpture Fragment to the 1940s.
This piece has a green patination, probably from it being outside.
The Royal Engineers needed some bronze & one night the statue was removed and then cut up and melted down. This nostril from the horse was acquired by F/Lt J Jameson in 1944 while he was stationed there.

Mussolini travelled to Libya in 1937.
This is a rare & important piece of Libyan history & quite interesting with the present problems in Libya.
