Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1930 Shiraz-Qashqai village runner rug originates from a private collection and was purchased at Liberty's department store in the 1970s. The Persian tribal wool piece displays a fine village workshop quality with a cotton foundation flat thread, mellowed time wear, and general usage wear. The magenta and deep red field contains stylized bird motifs, animal figures, and diamond pole medallions in subtle mustard, ivory, and additional tones, complemented by geometric repeating borders and fringed ends. Measuring 312 cm long, 118 cm wide, and 1 cm deep, this runner sits flat on the floor well. It suits interior placements in hallways, long corridors, or large living spaces seeking a Glastonbury boho aesthetic.

FAQs

Qashqai rugs are traditional hand-knotted textiles created by nomadic tribes in southwestern Iran. They are characterised by vibrant natural dyes, geometric medallions, stylized flora, and animal motifs woven into a dense wool pile.

These rugs are woven using hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation structure, including the warp and weft threads. Dyes are historically derived from natural plant and mineral sources such as madder root and indigo.

Authentic Qashqai pieces display a flexible wool-on-wool structure with slight asymmetrical variations in pattern and knot tension. They feature distinctive tribal imagery, including stylized birds, pole medallions, and multi-banded borders.

A vibrant tribal runner creates a focal point in neutral hallways, entryways, or along the side of a bed. Pairing geometric woven patterns with minimalist furniture or polished timber flooring creates visual warmth and contrast.

Vacuum regularly using suction only to prevent damaging the hand-knotted pile fibres. Blot liquid spills immediately with a dry cotton cloth, rotate the rug periodically to balance foot traffic wear, and seek professional specialist cleaning when required.
