Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian country pine dresser base is a practical sideboard with a honey brown finish and a visible grain. The piece comprises three upper drawers above four panelled cupboard doors, all fitted with round black turned wooden knobs and set upon a simple plinth base with raised vertical mouldings framing the doors. The timber shows a warm, even patina across its surfaces. Measuring 180 cm in width, 52 cm in depth, and 100 cm in height, the sideboard provides substantial storage capacity. In a contemporary home, this sturdy storage unit fits well in a kitchen, dining room, or hallway to hold tableware, linens, or everyday items. The flat top surface also serves as a convenient display area for lamps, decorative items, or serving dishes during gatherings.

FAQs

A dresser base is a wide, low storage cabinet featuring drawers over cupboards, originally designed for 19th-century country kitchens and dining spaces to store tableware and linens.

Traditional 19th-century pine dressers were crafted using solid Scots pine or European red pine, featuring hand-dovetailed drawer joints, tongue-and-groove backing boards, and simple wooden turnings.

Authentic 19th-century pieces often show hand-cut dovetails, uneven saw marks on rear panels, natural shrinkage gaps, and original turned wooden knobs or secondary wood drawer linings.

Position the piece in a kitchen, dining room, or hallway, anchoring it with a large wall mirror or artwork above, and accessorise the top with ceramic vessels or lamps.

Clean the wood using a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding placement near direct heat sources or high humidity to prevent timber movement.
