Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture design, dating from 1901 to 1910, often revived 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite styles. It is recognised by lighter proportions, fine wood veneers such as mahogany, and delicate satinwood or boxwood string inlay.

These desks were commonly crafted from solid mahogany or walnut with veneer panels. Writing surfaces often featured gold-tooled leather inserts, paired with solid brass handles and hand-cut dovetail drawer joints.

Authentic pieces display period-appropriate construction details, including hand-cut drawer dovetails, cast brass hardware showing natural patination, and hand-applied line inlay. Desk undersides and drawer linings typically show slight hand-planing marks.

An Edwardian writing desk can function as a compact workstation in a home office or act as a side table behind a sofa. Pairing the piece with modern lighting or contemporary artwork creates a balanced contrast between traditional craft and contemporary living.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply beeswax sparingly twice a year along the grain. Clean the leather insert using a slightly damp cloth and condition it periodically with specialized leather balm to prevent drying.
