Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco chest of drawers from 1930 comprises a warm brown mahogany body with delicate boxwood line inlay framing each of the five graduated drawers. The piece stands on square legs and features a raised top gallery complete with a decorative marquetry panel. Original square bakelite handles are fitted to each drawer front, complementing the clean lines of the wooden carcass. Surface wear and minor marks are visible across the polished top and timber surfaces, reflecting its vintage history. Standing at an upright height with a compact footprint, the unit provides generous storage capacity for folded garments and linens. It functions well in a bedroom, hallway or dressing area as a practical storage solution.

FAQs

Art Deco furniture from the 1920s and 1930s is characterised by clean geometric lines, streamlined forms, rich wood veneers, and subtle decorative elements such as marquetry or inlaid borders.

Pieces from this era commonly utilized solid mahogany, walnut, or oak frameworks alongside decorative veneers, boxwood stringing, and handles crafted from early plastics like Bakelite, glass, or solid brass.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut or early machine dovetail joints inside the drawers, solid timber drawer linings, period-correct hardware, and natural signs of age to the finish.

Position the piece against neutral or deeply painted walls to highlight the warm wood tones, and pair it with modern table lamps or minimal ceramics to balance traditional and contemporary elements.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year along the grain. Keep the item away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer fading.
