This nineteenth-century Victorian double wardrobe originates from a large Derbyshire country house and is constructed from pine with flame mahogany veneers in a warm brown colour. The piece displays a deep hue with a well-patinated finish, featuring a moulded cornice, two doors with arched panels and flame mahogany grain, and carved corbel accents flanking the upper section. Additional visual elements include a flat plinth base, carved corner details at the foot of the doors, and the original lock with a hanging tassel key. The structure stands 213 cm high, 142 cm wide, and 67 cm deep. The wardrobe separates into sections, with a removable cornice and a body that lifts off its plinth for easier transport and installation. The interior offers dedicated storage space behind the twin doors, making the piece suitable for hanging clothes and organising apparel in a bedroom or dressing room. The clean lines and traditional English country house aesthetic allow the furniture to blend into period interiors or traditional residential settings.

19th-century Victorian mahogany wardrobes typically feature substantial proportions, flame mahogany veneers, arched door panels, and prominent moulded cornices. They were constructed as primary storage pieces for clothing and linens in country houses and residential properties.

These wardrobes were constructed using solid pine or oak secondary frameworks overlaid with flame mahogany veneers. Doors frequently incorporate hand-carved corbels or brackets, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and a heavy plinth base.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints on internal fittings, original iron or brass lock mechanisms, hand-planed timber backboards, and age-consistent surface patination. The flame mahogany veneer exhibits symmetrical feathering patterns formed by book-matching techniques.

A mahogany wardrobe functions as a functional statement piece within a master bedroom or dressing room. It pairs effectively alongside contemporary neutral decor, minimal furnishings, or tailored lighting to create contrast between traditional and modern elements.

Dust the exterior regularly using a dry, soft lint-free cloth along the grain direction. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice per year to maintain timber hydration, avoiding silicon-based sprays and direct placement near heat sources.
