Description

A fabulous antique Art Deco carpet, woven in north east China circa 1920s or 1930s. The design features two large floral sprays (with a couple of butterflies) on an unusual aubergine field surrounded by a mint green border. Very typical vibrant secondary colours of golds, reds and blues and a wonderful example of Chinese Art Deco weaving.

Size: 3.54m x 2.69m (11ft 7in x 8ft 10in)

This carpet is in very good condition with thick, chunky pile. The fringes and selvedges are original and secure and it has been professionally cleaned. A couple of surface marks in the border which are barely visible (see photos).
