Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

This Georgian revival mahogany sideboard originates from around 1880. The deep reddish-brown timber displays striking flame mahogany veneer across the front drawers and cupboards, complemented by slender tapered legs ending in spade feet and an elaborate brass rear gallery fitted with oval medallions and finials. Brass lion mask ring handles punctuate the drawers, while the central section incorporates vertical tambour reeding. Measuring 185 cm wide, 66 cm deep, and 93 cm high with a total gallery height of 137 cm, the server provides substantial storage for dining rooms or living spaces. It functions as a practical serving surface or display console in a traditional interior, ready for everyday use.

FAQs

Georgian and Georgian revival sideboards are defined by symmetrical proportions, flame mahogany veneers, tapered or turned legs, and functional storage arrangements including deep drawers and central cupboards.

Craftsmen primarily utilised solid mahogany framing with cuts of flame mahogany veneer, brass hardware such as lion-mask ring handles, and forged brass back galleries.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass fitments showing natural patination, timber oxidation on drawer interiors, and square tapered legs ending in spade feet or castors.

A dark mahogany sideboard functions effectively against neutral painted walls or contemporary wallpaper, offering visual contrast when balanced with light ceramic accessories or modern glass table lamps.

Apply a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain of the wood twice a year to preserve moisture, while keeping brass elements clean by dusting with a soft, dry lint-free cloth.
