Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

This Edwardian mahogany pedestal sideboard in a deep reddish-brown finish brings traditional English Country House character to a dining room or living space. The piece exhibits twin pedestals with raised end plinths, panelled cupboard doors, and decorative mouldings framing the upper structure. Brass drop handles accent the drawers and doors, complementing the carved paw feet supporting the base. Practical storage includes two outer pedestal cupboards with a drawer above each, alongside a central section containing two small drawers over three graduated drawers. The solid wooden cabinet shows age-related wear consistent with its period. Dimensions are 113 cm high, 162.5 cm wide, and 51 cm deep.

FAQs

An Edwardian pedestal sideboard is a dining room cabinet originating from the early 20th century, characterised by two flanking pedestal cupboards supporting drawers or a central recessed shelf section.

These sideboards were constructed using hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, featuring solid timber drawer linings, dovetailed joints, and cast brass drop handles.

Authentic Edwardian pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, rich timber patination, classical moulding details, and period-correct brass hardware showing natural oxidisation.

Position the sideboard as a main focal point in a dining room, hallway, or living space, balancing its visual weight with modern artwork, neutral ceramic vessels, or table lamps.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply a high-quality beeswax polish along the grain twice a year, and keep the unit away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
