This Arts and Crafts wardrobe originates from around 1890 in the English Country House style. Constructed from warm brown walnut with glass and brass elements, the architectural piece stands 203 cm high, 122 cm wide, and 50 cm deep. A deep moulded cornice caps the tall framework, which houses a full-length central mirror door flanked by panelled uprights. Carved relief panels adorn the upper sections above reeding, and a single wide drawer sits at the base. Two brass drop handles with backplates are fitted to the lower drawer, alongside a small brass keyhole escutcheon on the central door. In a modern interior, this freestanding storage furniture serves bedrooms or dressing rooms as a practical wardrobe. The neutral timber tone integrates easily into traditional and contemporary spaces while providing vertical hanging and drawer storage. The wardrobe rests on block feet below the curved lower edge of the base drawer apron.

Arts & Crafts furniture emphasises honest craftsmanship, natural timber grain, and simple geometric forms, often decorated with stylised botanical carvings or hand-forged metalwork.

Wardrobes from this era typically feature solid timber frames, rich walnut veneers, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, and bevelled glass mirror panels.

Authentic pieces often display distinctive carved relief panels, original stamped brass hardware, stamped lock mechanisms, and precise cabinetmaking techniques.

A standalone walnut armoire serves as a focal point in contemporary bedrooms or hallways, pairing effectively with neutral wall tones, linen textiles, and understated modern accents.

Regular dusting with a soft dry cloth and an occasional application of high-quality beeswax polish will protect the timber finish and preserve its original patina.
