This Georgian mahogany double wardrobe measures 203 cm high, 148 cm wide and 63 cm deep, and dismantles into sections for transport. The exterior displays a rich brown timber with flame mahogany panels set within panelled doors, accented by a moulded cornice, a working lock and key, brass ring handles on two banks of two upper drawers and one full-width base drawer, and bracket feet. The doors open to reveal a spacious interior with a hanging rail finished in blue. Position this piece in a bedroom to store clothing and linens, bringing traditional English country house style to a domestic interior. The rich timber finish and classic proportions suit both period and contemporary rooms, offering practical storage alongside historic character.

Originating in the 18th and early 19th centuries, Georgian double wardrobes feature classical symmetry, flame mahogany veneers, and functional storage arrangements typically including twin panelled doors positioned above base drawers.

These wardrobes were constructed using solid mahogany and flame mahogany veneers, often incorporating pine or oak as secondary carcass woods, finished with solid brass hardware and hand-dovetailed drawer joints.

Authentic Georgian pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary linings, original brass lock mechanisms, classical mouldings, and evidence of hand-planing on the rear panels.

In modern interiors, a large mahogany wardrobe serves as a grounding focal point when contrasted against neutral walls, clean-lined textiles, and contemporary lighting fixtures.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, applying high-grade beeswax twice yearly along the wood grain, and positioning the piece away from direct sunlight or radiators.
