Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This grand Regency mahogany demi lune side cabinet dates to 1910 and displays a curved semi-circular silhouette in a warm brown tone. The structure incorporates flame mahogany veneers across the central door panels, complemented by a single upper drawer fitted with two circular wooden pulls, fine dental mouldings, and a working key attached to a pale green tassel. Further embellishments include carved shell motifs, applied floral drops, and tapered square feet beneath a shaped top surface. Practical proportions of 95 cm high, 122 cm wide, and 51 cm deep make this sideboard cabinet suitable for storage in a dining room, hallway, or living space.

FAQs

A demi-lune side cabinet is a crescent-shaped piece of storage furniture featuring a flat back designed to sit flush against a wall and a curved front, popularised during the eighteenth-century Neoclassical era.

These cabinets were typically constructed using solid woods such as mahogany or satinwood, often decorated with decorative veneers like flame mahogany, crossbanded borders, and hand-carved ornamentation.

Authentic period cabinets display signs of traditional craftsmanship, such as hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, uneven underside saw marks, natural wood shrinkage around panel joins, and genuine timber oxidisation.

Place the cabinet along a central wall in a hallway or dining space, paired with a large framed mirror overhead or a decorative table lamp to accentuate its symmetrical curves.

Clean timber surfaces with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically, while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or fading.
