Description

An iconic original Art Deco sculpture by Demetre Chiparus, one of the most highly regarded Romanian sculptors of the Art Deco period, signed to the base.

An exquisitely modelled hunting panther, captured in a powerful and dynamic pose, cast in cold-painted spelter and mounted on a substantial Portoro marble base.

Signed to the base: D.H. Chiparus.

A striking and highly collectible example of Chiparus’ animalier work, with excellent scale, sculptural detail and a particularly impressive presence.

In very good antique condition with minimal signs of age and use as to be expected.

Circa 1930.
