Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bow-fronted chests feature a gently curved convex front facade, a design popularised in the late 18th century and continued through the Edwardian era circa 1900. These pieces typically offer tiered drawer storage with mahogany veneers and classical proportions.

Chests from around 1900 were constructed using mahogany framework paired with polished mahogany veneers over softwood carcases. Hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, brass hardware, and turned legs with brass castors are typical structural features of this era.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery inside the drawers, original brass lock plates or handles, and genuine age-related patination across the surfaces. Look for signs of wear on the drawer runners and consistent grain patterns across veneer panels.

A matching pair works effectively as oversized bedside tables in a master bedroom or flanking a fireplace in a living space. Pair them with contemporary table lamps and minimalist artwork to balance the rich wood tones.

Keep mahogany away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent drying or fading of the timber. Clean regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the protective finish.
