Large Art Deco Style Bronze Dancer After Bruno Zach Marble Base Sculpture 65cm

An impressive large-scale bronze figure of a female dancer, after Bruno Zach, executed in the Art Deco style and standing approximately 65cm high.

The elegant figure is depicted in a dramatic dancing pose with arms raised, displaying the elongated proportions and stylised movement associated with the celebrated Austrian sculptor Bruno Zach (1891–1945).

Cast in bronze with a warm brown patinated finish, the figure is mounted upon a substantial tapering marble base, giving the sculpture considerable presence.

The bronze bears an incised “B. Zach” signature to the base together with a circular bronze guarantee/foundry-style medallion. These marks are recorded as features of the casting and are not presented as evidence that the sculpture was cast during Bruno Zach’s lifetime.

The model is known from other examples catalogued by UK auction houses as a later bronze after Bruno Zach, and this example is therefore conservatively catalogued as a modern Art Deco-style casting rather than an original 1920s/1930s Zach bronze.
