Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

This Victorian burr walnut and marble-topped sideboard credenza exhibits a serpentine form finished in warm brown tones. The raised back holds a large arched mirror framed by floral and vine carvings rising to a carved central crest, complemented by a central oval mirror door and purple pleated fabric panels set within carved surrounds. Brass handles, turned supports, and shaped bracket feet complete the structure, which stands 187 cm high, 170 cm wide, and 48 cm deep, with the marble top sitting 92 cm from the floor. Suitable for use in a dining room, drawing room, or large hallway, the piece provides practical storage behind three cabinet doors that open to reveal interior shelving. The combination of figured timber veneer, white marble, bevelled glass, and upholstered fabric panels makes this a functional storage item with traditional Victorian details for domestic interiors.

FAQs

A Victorian mirror-backed credenza is a 19th-century storage cabinet typically featuring a stone surface, carved timber framework, decorative glass panels, and lower storage compartments designed for dining spaces.

These pieces utilise figured timbers such as burr walnut or mahogany, topped with natural white or grey-veined marble slabs and fitted with silvered glass mirrors and fabric-lined doors.

Authentic 19th-century examples display hand-cut dovetail joints, natural marble surfaces showing veining, cast-brass hardware, and hand-carved decorative motifs along the frame.

Position the piece as a focal point in a dining room or spacious hallway, pairing the warm timber tones with neutral wall colours, contemporary glassware, and modern artwork to create visual balance.

Clean the timber frame with a dry microfibre cloth and apply natural beeswax periodically, while wiping the marble top using a pH-neutral cleaner to prevent surface etching.
