Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sporting prints gained immense popularity during the nineteenth century in Britain, depicting activities such as polo, fox hunting, and horse racing. Artists were commissioned to document notable matches and equestrian events, which were then reproduced as lithographs or engravings for public distribution.

Victorian lithographs were created using planographic printing from limestone blocks or zinc plates onto heavy rag paper. Many examples were printed in monochrome or limited tones before being individually hand-coloured using watercolour washes.

Authentic prints from this period show hand-applied colour variations, continuous line tones or soft grain rather than modern halftone dot grids, and period plate impression lines. Paper from this era often exhibits natural age toning, foxing, or laid paper lines consistent with historic rag stock.

Sporting prints function well when hung above a sideboard, mantelpiece, or along a hallway gallery wall. They pair effectively with traditional dark timber furniture, leather upholstery, and neutral painted backgrounds to create a classic aesthetic.

Keep paper artworks away from direct sunlight and areas of high humidity to prevent fading and foxing. Ensure the piece is mounted using acid-free materials and framed behind UV-protective glass to shield the paper and inks from light degradation.
