Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A club fender is a raised bench surround placed around a fireplace hearth, originally designed in 19th-century England to provide additional seating close to the fire in gentlemans clubs and country estates.

Traditional 19th-century club fenders were crafted from solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, frequently combined with brass or iron upright spindles and topped with polished wood or upholstered leather seats.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display period joinery techniques such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, natural wear along the base and seat rail, and age-related patination across the timber surfaces.

A traditional oak club fender creates a grounded focal point in a living room or reception space when positioned around an open hearth or log burner, serving as structural architectural trim and low-level seating.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the oak and preserve its natural patina, keeping it away from direct excess heat.
