Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian side cabinets, produced between 1901 and 1910, frequently incorporated revival elements from earlier Georgian, Chippendale, and Hepplewhite styles. They are recognised by elegant proportions, refined mahogany veneers, and subtle carved embellishments.

Craftsmen typically utilised solid mahogany framing paired with decorative flame mahogany veneers laid over secondary timbers like pine or oak. Construction features include hand-cut dovetail joints, mortise and tenon framing, and cast brass fittings.

Authentic Edwardian pieces feature precise cabinetmaking, light wear patterns around keyholes and feet, and natural patination on the mahogany finish. Look for hand-finished backing boards, period-appropriate brass hardware, and signs of gentle aging along drawer linings.

Position the cabinet in a hallway or dining room to serve as a focal anchor, pairing dark timber tones with neutral wall palettes. Top with contemporary ceramics, simple artwork, or modern lighting to create an intentional contrast between historical texture and clean modern lines.

Keep mahogany furniture away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent veneer lifting or fading. Dust using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, buffing along the direction of the wood grain.
