Charles Edward Dixon Original Watercolour 1934

Description

Charles Edward Dixon Original Watercolour 1934. Charles Dixon was a renowned maritime artist. The painting depicts the 'Cutty Sark' with the Brixham ketch mule 'Ethel Lilian' off the Devon coast in the 1930s. The official port records record the 'Ethel' from the 1910s through to the 1940s. The Cutty Sark spent much of the 1930s in the waters of the English Channel off the coast of Devon and Cornwall.

The painting is incredibly vibrant and has lost little or none of its' colour. The frame appears contemporary to the painting and there is a frame makers label to verso. There appears to be some creasing of the paper in two small areas and the painting may have a had a couple of repairs in the distant past.

Paintings by this artist regularly sell for thousands of pounds at auction.

Purchased privately from an estate in the West of England.

The painting has likely never previously been offered for sale on the open market
