Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Open-face pocket watches became popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, designed without a protective metal cover over the crystal for quick legibility. Prominent Swiss watchmakers standardized high-precision mechanical movements during this era, producing reliable timepieces for railway conductors, military personnel, and everyday gentlemanly wear.

Case construction traditionally utilized gunmetal, nickel alloy, sterling silver, or gold plate, housing a white enamel dial with fired black numerals. Accompanying Albert chains were commonly crafted from solid brass, silver, or gold-plated alloys featuring curb links, a swivel clasp, and a T-bar fitting.

Authentic period watches feature hand-finished mechanical movements stamped with maker marks, serial numbers, and caliber designations inside the case back. Indications of period origin include porcelain or enamel dials with crisp typography, blued steel or spade hands, and natural age patina on metal surfaces.

The watch can be worn traditionally by securing the T-bar through the buttonhole of a three-piece suit waistcoat or tailored vest, placing the watch in the pocket. Alternatively, the set can be displayed under a glass dome or mounted in a shadow box display frame as an accent piece.

Mechanical pocket watches require careful handling and winding without over-tightening the crown. Keep the watch away from modern magnetic fields and moisture, storing it in a dry location, and have the mechanical movement serviced by a professional horologist every three to five years.
