We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Turkmen ceremonial horse blanket, or horse cover, is a specialized textile crafted by nomadic tribes in Central Asia to dress horses for formal processions, weddings, and festivals. These textiles served both decorative and functional roles, demonstrating tribal identity, craft proficiency, and prestige.

These blankets are constructed from dense, pressed felted wool, which provides thermal insulation and durability. Elaborate surface decoration is achieved using chain stitch, couching, and silk or wool thread embroidery, frequently finished with woven geometric borders and corner tassels.

Authentic pieces feature naturally dyed wools displaying subtle colour variations, handmade felt bases, and precise geometric symbols unique to specific tribal groups such as the Yomut or Tekke. Hand-spun wool yarns, uneven edge tension, and historic wear consistent with age further indicate authenticity.

Designers frequently mount antique equestrian textiles onto canvas frames or display them as decorative wall hangings above sideboards, consoles, or beds. The organic textures and deep graphic patterns create visual warmth and focal contrast within minimalist, contemporary, or eclectic interiors.

Preserve wool felt textiles by displaying them away from direct sunlight and high humidity. Vacuum gently using a low-suction brush attachment through a mesh screen, and consult a professional textile conservator for cleaning or mounting to prevent fibre degradation.
