This is a wonderful antique Shirvan carpet from the South East Caucasus in excellent condition which dates from around 1890. The finely hand woven carpet has a very pleasing lattice design of stylised plants on an indigo field. Its warm terracotta borders are very pretty with polychrome hooked devices held within narrow parasol motif guard stripes. The carpet is in excellent condition with an even pile and complete ends and selvedges and has a high knot count that gives great definition to the design.This is cleaned and ready for use and is a very practical size measuring 242 cms by 145 cms.
