Gents 1960s Avia Daytyme Wrist Watch

Gents 1960s Avia DayTyme wrist watch.

The watch has a 30 jewel automatic movement which is working nicely. The movement is a Felsa 4008 for Avia. The rotor has been changed at some point, possibly as the result of a broken jewel, and the watch repairer has fitted a period replacement which is correct but it states 17 jewels, not 30.

The watch measures 34.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is gold plated while the case back is stainless steel. The front of the case is in lovely condition, some rubbing to the plate on the back of the watch. There is a scratch across the case back, and it also states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands and centre seconds hand. There is a date display which is initially set by pulling the crown in and out (second and third position), and a day display which is initially set by winding the hands forwards.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
