Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Early Victorian botanical engravings were created during the 19th century as scientific and aesthetic documentations of flora, often hand-coloured and produced via copperplate or steel engraving techniques.

These prints were typically rendered on heavy rag paper using engraved metal plates, with colours subsequently applied by hand using watercolour washes.

Authentic prints usually feature plate marksan impression left by the engraved metal platealongside faint scientific Latin nomenclature and evidence of age-appropriate paper toning.

Framed botanical illustrations can be displayed as a curated gallery wall or hung individually in narrow spaces, adding natural motifs and muted tones to neutral palettes.

Keep prints out of direct sunlight to prevent fading, frame them behind UV-protective glass with acid-free mounting board, and maintain stable indoor humidity levels.
