This Georgian sideboard follows the design by George Hepplewhite from plate 62 in his 1794 'Cabinet maker and Upholsters Guide'. Constructed in England circa 1800, the piece uses mahogany with flame mahogany veneer, brass hardware, and boxwood inlay, presenting a warm brown timber colour throughout the bow-fronted platform. Five lockable drawers occupy the front elevation, comprising a single central kneehole drawer flanked by two pairs of side drawers, all fitted with circular embossed brass backplates and hanging ring handles. Keyholes feature above each handle, while thin stringing outlines the drawer fronts and structural borders. Four tapered square legs with spade feet support the base structure. Measuring 91 cm high, 152 cm wide, and 76 cm deep, the sideboard functions well in a dining room, hallway, or living area for surface display and concealed storage within a traditional or classic interior scheme.

A Georgian Hepplewhite sideboard is defined by its light, delicate proportions, straight or subtly bowed fronts, square tapered legs ending in spade feet, and rich flame mahogany veneers.

These sideboards typically feature mahogany or satinwood primary timber with boxwood or ebony inlays, hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, and solid brass ring pull handles with stamped backplates.

Authentic period pieces display hand-sawn secondary timber like oak or pine inside drawer linings, hand-cut dovetails, original cast brass hardware, and subtle patination around kneeholes and feet.

Position the sideboard in a dining room or hallway paired with contemporary framed artwork above, flanked by modern table lamps or ceramic vessels to balance historic craftsmanship with contemporary style.

Dust regularly using a soft microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice per year, keeping the wood clear of direct sunlight and radiator heat sources.
