The rectangular top is inset with a green leather writing surface, finished with a finely tooled edge and framed by a richly figured walnut surround.The desk offers excellent storage with eleven drawers arranged around the kneehole, all constructed in solid mahogany with hand-cut dovetail joints. The drawers retain turned walnut knobs, and one drawer is stamped C. Hindley & Sons, the respected London cabinet makers and upholsterers who supplied high-quality furniture during the mid to late 19th century.
