Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Afshar rugs originate from the nomadic and semi-nomadic Afshar tribe located primarily around the Kerman region in south-east Persia. Known for their distinct geometric patterns and rich dye palettes, these textiles reflect a blending of Turkic weaving traditions with regional Persian motifs.

These carpets are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for the pile, secured onto a cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. The dyes were traditionally extracted from natural plant and mineral sources, creating depth and subtle colour variations known as abrash.

Authentic pieces display hand-bound selvages, slight irregularities in symmetry due to nomadic loom setups, and natural colour gradations across the field. The reverse side reveals visible, uneven hand-knotted stitching rather than uniform machine backing.

A geometric tribal rug serves as a foundational accent, introducing depth and historical texture to contemporary or traditional schemes. It anchors seating arrangements in living spaces, studies, or dining rooms while pairing effectively with neutral or dark wood furnishings.

Regular care requires suction-only vacuuming without a rotating beater bar to protect the pile fibers. Spills should be blotted immediately with a clean cloth, and professional cleaning by a specialist oriental carpet restorer is recommended every few years.
