Tinker & Toad has dated this Edwardian Mahogany Dressing Chest to the Edwardian era.

The fold-out top provides generous surface space, with a bank of three graduated drawers below, each retaining its attractive brass handles. The lower section houses a good-sized cupboard with a removable shelf, and the whole stands on a stylish plinth base. Good grain, colour and patina throughout, with wear commensurate with age.

The piece was sourced in Oxford, and during cleaning and polishing a charming discovery was made: a handwritten love letter, with a poem on the reverse, tucked beneath one of the drawers — written on headed Magdalen College paper no less. Little finds like this are part of what makes antique furniture so endlessly fascinating.
Table top height is 105cm. Width with both leaves up is 101cm wide. Mirror height is also adjustable.
