In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this Victorian Mahogany Filing Cabinet to the Victorian era.
It has a raised brass escutcheon and it comes with a working key. It could have quite possibly been a military piece and has inset brass military style handles and an inset bone plaque with the letter 'D' in it.

It could be used as a wall mounted piece or a tabletop item.
It is in good condition for its age and the mahogany has developed a lovely rich patina. It is not without some minor knocks and marks and there are some small repairs to chips near the back corners but nothing detrimental and overall it displays well. The interior is clean and tidy and it has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
