LVS Decorative Arts has dated this Grand Tour Bronze Faun to the 1880s.
‘The Dancing Faun’ with typical faunlike features of his small horns and small goat’s tail is depicted standing next to a tree stump playing his music, his head bent forward holding cymbals in each hand, his right foot resting on a kroupezion attached to his sandal, this was a metal plate making a noise similar to a tap shoe, all supported on circular base signed ‘Duchemin’ - Issak Duchemin was a 19th century Belgian sculptor.
This bronze figure in in excellent original condition for age and can go straight into a home or collection.
