Kurdish runners are hand-knotted textiles woven by Kurdish nomadic or village weavers across western Persia and eastern Anatolia. They are defined by their long, narrow proportions, heavyweight wool foundations, rich saturated dyes, and repeating geometric or tribal motifs.

These rugs were constructed almost exclusively using hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation warps and wefts. The wool was coloured using locally sourced natural plant and mineral dyes, resulting in deep navy blues, madder reds, terracottas, and warm golds.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-knotted wool construction with characteristic slight variations in width along the length, known as abrash dye variations, soft age-related wear to the pile, and flexible, organic handle rather than stiff chemical backing.
