Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A kamandal, or kamandalu, is an oblong or globular water vessel traditionally carried by Hindu ascetics and religious practitioners. Historically crafted from wood, gourd, or cast brass, it holds holy water used during prayer, rituals, and spiritual purification.

Late nineteenth and early twentieth-century Indian brassware was predominantly constructed from cast or hand-hammered brass alloy. Artisans utilized chasing, engraving, and repousse techniques to create fine geometric patterns, lotus petal bands, and narrative figural scenes.

Pieces originating from the Jeypore School of Art often display distinct incised surface decoration depicting Hindu deities or courtly figures surrounded by dense foliage. The engraving is precise, featuring shallow linear etching rather than deep repousse work.

A decorative metal vessel can be displayed as a standalone accent piece on a sideboard, console, or within a curated shelf arrangement. Its warm metallic tones contrast well against dark timber, natural stone, or painted surfaces.

To preserve the historical surface finish and patina, clean the brass gently with a soft dry cloth to remove dust. Avoid harsh chemical polishes or abrasive pads that can strip natural surface oxidisation or wear down fine surface engravings.
