Dragoncharger Antiques has dated this Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Charger to the 1880s.
Profusely decorated with Mount Fuji and the red-sun setting behind. A bird in flight and an Owl sitting / watching on a branch. Set within an overall scenery of dwellings and sailing boats in the ocean background. Further decorated with foliage and swirling flowers. The dark green enamel is unique to this era. Substantial use of wires, both decorative and functional in anchoring the enamel in early Japanese cloisonne work. High-quality cloisonne with skilled brass-wire work and enameling techniques. The reverse similarly decorated with swirling flowers.
Condition: Excellent and original condition.
