Description

Size: 3ft 5in x 1ft 10in (105 x 56cm).

Antique Afghan Baluch storage or grain bag; these are known as ‘balisht’.

Circa 1920.

This example has a repeat octagon design to the face with a decorative closing panel at the top in weft work. The original tassels are on the sides. The bag has a overall dark colour palette that shines when caught in sunlight.

The back is a dark plain weave.

The bag is in excellent condition with slight wear and good pile, the lower corners show signs of genuine tribal use. These bags make excellent floor cushions if filled with a pillow.
