Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A torba is a small, rectangular storage bag traditionally woven by nomadic Turkmen tribes of Central Asia. The decorated front panel, or face, was rendered with intricate geometric patterns and used inside tents or suspended during nomadic transit.

Tekke torbas were hand-knotted using hand-spun sheep wool on wool warps, dyed with natural plant and mineral dyes such as madder and indigo. The weave is characterised by a dense knot count, fine pile, and flat-woven structural backing.

Authentic 19th-century Tekke pieces exhibit rich natural dyes that develop a subtle lustre, finely proportioned geometric guls or curled leaf motifs, and a soft handle resulting from hand-spun wool and precise asymmetrical knotting.

A woven torba face functions as acoustic wall art when mounted and framed, or can be displayed flat across a console table to introduce warm tones, texture, and historical depth to contemporary spaces.

Preserve antique wool textiles by keeping them out of direct sunlight to prevent dye fading. Vacuum gently using a low-suction attachment without a beater bar, and consult a specialist textile conservator for deep cleaning or stabilisation.
