An impressive and substantial Chinese censer dating to the mid–late 19th century, circa 1880. This is a fine quality example, beautifully cast and richly decorated throughout.

The censer is profusely adorned with intricate detailing across its body, divided into four principal sections. The casting is crisp and refined, demonstrating excellent workmanship. The stand, pierced lid, and Dog of Fo finial are all highly stylised and complement the overall balance and presence of the piece.

The bronze/brass has developed a superb, deep colour and natural patina from many years of age and handling, enhancing its character and authenticity. It is heavy for its size, giving it a reassuringly solid and substantial feel.

Condition is very good overall, consistent with age and use. There is a slight misshaping to the edge of the lid, which does not detract from the display and is mentioned for accuracy. Please study the detailed photographs as they form part of the description.
