Gents 1960s Invicta chronograph wrist watch.
The watch has the 17 jewel hand-winding movement, Landeron 149 for Invicta, which is working nicely.
The watch measures 37mm diameter excluding the winding crown, buttons and lugs. The case is stainless steel and it is in good condition with just light surface marking, nothing too serious at all. The back of the watch states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.
The lens is in lovely condition (some white reflection showing in the photos).
The dial is signed Invicta, with the IV logo above, this logo was first registered by Invicta SA of La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1955. The dial is in good original condition with original hands. Two subsidiary dials, one for constant seconds and the other to record up to 45 minutes.
On the recorder sub dial, there are large markers at three, six and nine minutes. These were aimed at the business man who made international t
...elephone calls which were very expensive at the time. The calls were rounded to chargeable chunks of three minutes and so watchmaking companies came up with this scale to help people control their call duration.
The chronograph is operated by pressing the top button to start and stop, the bottom button to re-set to zero.
It has a generic stainless steel bracelet which currently fits an 18.5cm wrist although there is capacity on the clasp to make it around 1.5cm smaller. There is some surface scratching to the clasp.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
