Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian cast iron urns typically feature classical motifs such as egg-and-dart moulding, fluting, and gadrooning inspired by Greco-Roman antiquities. Mass production in nineteenth-century foundries allowed durable, ornate garden ornaments to be placed in estate grounds and urban public parks.

These planters were formed by pouring molten iron into sand moulds, often created in distinct sections before final assembly. The resulting heavy structural iron provided weight stability and resistance against wind and outdoor elements.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display fine seam lines from sand casting methods, considerable physical weight, and layered surface oxidation from weather exposure. Original maker stamps or registration design marks may occasionally be visible near the base.

Cast iron urns can flank an entryway to create formal symmetry, or function as structural focal points on stone terraces and gravel paths. Indoors, they can be positioned in conservatories or hallways to display dried florals and seasonal foliage.

To stabilise rust without destroying historical patination, loose surface particles should be brushed away prior to applying a coat of clear wax or protective oil. Drainage holes must remain clear of debris to prevent trapped water from freezing and fracturing the cast metal.
