The harp, or clairseach, has served as a traditional national emblem of Ireland since the medieval period. During the late nineteenth and early twentieth-century Celtic Revival movement, artists incorporated harp imagery alongside Gaelic typography and knotwork onto cast metalwork to celebrate national heritage.
