Antique Anatolian Kilim Country House Tribal Rug C1920s, 280cm x 135cm
A handsome antique, Anatolian rug circa 1920-1940 of considerable character and a country house aesthetic.
Featuring a field of characteristic motifs and themes with central medallions and latch-hooks complimented by border, a combination of subtle colours of brick red, orange and blue, produced by vegetable dye.
An elegant and versatile carpet with an established, sufficient wear, which is generally expected and admired for a carpet of this quality and age. There are some areas of subtle timeworn appearance which adds authenticity and character with evidence of some wear and occasional but minimal holes. The general surface and colour is considered very good and wear which is an expected sign of reasonable/responsible use for an apx 100 year old carpet, from the Anatolia region of Turkey, which has been a central area for rug production since the Ottoman Empire.
