A Victorian aneroid barometer is a meteorological instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure without using liquid, developed extensively during the 19th century as a reliable forecasting tool.

These instruments typically featured turned timber cases made from oak, mahogany, or walnut, housing brass bezels, glass dials, and intricate metallic internal mechanics.

Authenticity is usually determined by examining the maker signature, hand-engraved or printed paper dials, cast brass bezels, and the patina and construction of the wooden case.

An antique barometer adds historical texture when mounted on panelled walls in a hallway, study, or living room, serving as both a functional object and a decorative focal point.

Keep the instrument away from direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperature fluctuations, and occasionally dust the wooden case with a dry, soft cloth.
