William Grant Murray (1877-1950) was a landscape and figure painter, teacher and curator, born in Portsoy, Banffshire. He studied at Blairgowrie School of Art, Royal Institution and School of Art in Edinburgh, Royal College of Art and Académie Julian, Paris. He was principal of Swansea School of Art, 1910–43 and director of the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery there, 1910–50, that gallery giving him a memorial show in 1952. Showed RA, RI, Swansea Artists with WAC and SWG. Also had a series of solo shows. Aberdeen Art Gallery holds his work.
